Amy Bleu
Trying to Decipher the Beauty on an Endless Overture

You never say "good morning" -
First you grunt softly into your pillow.
Then your cigarette meets your lips.
Then your coffee scalds your tongue.
You "yelp" with pain.
I look up from my notebook, then move in closer, to caress your tongue.

The pain is forgotten.

We kiss until kissing becomes touching
Touch until touching becomes loving
We're making love, and soon it becomes night
And the moon cuts through the portal to our bedroom, invading, intruding,
yet I welcome the light.
It shines on your body - insanely beautiful.
It lights up your soul - beautifully insane.
Lover, I cannot decipher your beauty,
It is soft like your skin
and sharp like your smile.
It numbs me to the core,
I cannot look anymore.

So I burrow like a rabbit,
and you smile like a Chesire Cat.
You spread your butterfly wings
and soon we both take flight.

When the candles begin to flicker,
and the sun begins to rise,
We finally retire in each other's arms.
Just before you descend into your dreams,
you whisper softly, "good night."
You always say "good night."
