| "When I was in my mid-teens,
I became aware that I was attracted to both men
and women. I didn't really know the word for what
I was feeling until I was in my early twenties,
while in college. I came out to the college LGBT
group when I was 25, after getting the courage
to attend their meetings. Since then, I have had
relationships with both men and women. At present,
I am single and focusing on personal growth.
My art work is influenced by my dual heritage,
Mexican and American. I use the colors and motifs
that I have seen in my travels in Mexico and incorporate
them in my own designs. In a sense, my bisexuality
is a fusion of my attraction to men and women. |

"I specialize
in weaving tapestries, in freeform crochet pieces and
drawings in colored pencil and oil pastel. The concept
for my art work is a fusion of my own designs with colors
that reflect Mexican sensibilities. My work reflects
my Mexican and American heritage. I have traveled many
times to Mexico and seen ruins and art work. I use the
colors and even some of the designs from those travels
in the body of work I have done. I intend to travel
to Mexico in the future to gather images for inspiration
for future pieces. My hope is to convey the beauty that
I see around me, wherever I may be, in my works of art."
