Dulcie Canton graduated from LaGuardia High School of Music Art and the Performing Arts in 1994, as fine arts major. At that point in time, she had experienced different mediums, except photography. This was of course until 2003 when she enrolled in a black and white photography course at Focal Point Art Gallery which is located in the City Island section of the Bronx. The long hours that Dulcie spent within the darkroom caused Dulcie to re-evaluate her life and career choices. She felt that it was time to explore her bisexual feelings and reach out to those that felt as she did.

In late 2004 Dulcie began to attend the Bisexual Woman's group that meets every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at the LGBT Center in New York City. The group proved to be very supportive because it provided her with a much needed boost in self-esteem. While attending the group she did not feel the need to justify her feelings for both men and women. In 2005 she had the chance to march with her fellow group members in the annual Gay Pride Parade. When the Bisexual Women's show was proposed for 2006 she almost declined for fear of being "outed" to her family. The fear of being "outed" was overcome by a desire to actualizeher dreams of becoming an artist. Hence the names of Dulcie's photographic work "Series on Desire". Dulcie's "Series on Desire" is a mini photographic journal which documents her desire to be with women intimately.

Dulcie currently resides in the Bronx with her son. In addition to visual arts and photography, she is currently pursuing a bachelors degree at New School University, her major is psychology.

"It was during high school that I became aware that I was attracted to both men and women. At that time I had no idea that bisexuality existed. I was once told that I was going through a phase and that at some point I would decide to be either heterosexual or a lesbian." Well, here I am fifteen years later an out and proud bisexual woman!"
